Newsletters

Description

Online and e-newsletters (eNEWS) have replaced the hard copy of The Montgomery SIERRAN. The online newsletter and eNEWS are published every other month. Members who wish to receive the eNEWS should contact membership.services@sierraclub.org with the words "I want to subscribe to the Montgomery County Maryland eNEWS" in the subject line. Include your name and address in the body of the email as well.

One printed newsletter comes out annually. It summarizes what we worked on during the year, our successes, and what challenges still remain. This issue also has the statements of the candidates running for the executive committee and a ballot for the executive committee election.

Submissions

We encourage members to submit articles for the newsletter. Criteria for submissions include the following:

• Articles for the online newsletter not to exceed 300 words (1 double spaced page)
• Teaser for the eNEWS
• Write for the Web, not print media. For tips on Web writing, see the following:
  • "10 Tips for Good Web Writing"
  • "Writing Style for Print vs. Web"
  • "Writing Web Content"
• One or more images attached separately, not embedded in the document
  • 250 pixels or greater width
  • high resolution, high quality images preferred
  • Include a credit or permission from the copyright holder. Please don't use images from the Web unless they are in the public domain, e.g. Creative Commons or Wikimedia Commons.
• Multimedia content encouraged, i.e. podcasts, videos, slide presentations

The eNEWS is distributed the first Monday of the month. Send articles, images, and multimedia content by the preceding Wednesday to jane.huff@maryland.sierraclub.org. The editor reserves the right to trim or revise for reasons of clarity and space.
