The Baltimore Outdoor Sierrans host socials and outings for Baltimore City and County residents looking to get outdoors and have a positive impact on our environment.
On September 18, 2004, the first hike of the Baltimore Outdoor Sierrans of the Greater Baltimore Group, Maryland Chapter, took place. Angela and Kathy, the group's original co-chairs, organized this adventure at Gunpowder Falls State Park. Since then, an official Baltimore Outdoor Sierrans event has taken place monthly. Our hikes have drawn as many as 30 participants and our e-mail list now sends out event notices to over 300 people in the area.
The Baltimore Outdoor Sierrans host a monthly social (usually starting around 7:30pm on a Thursday evening) at various locations in Baltimore City. Locations will be posted on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BaltimoreOutdoorSierrans), announced within our monthly newsletter emails (sign up below) and through the Sierra Club's outing schedule.
The Baltimore Outdoor Sierrans host a monthly outing (usually the Saturday immediately following the social) that are often day hikes within 1-2 hours drive of Baltimore City, but can also include kayaking, biking, tubing, backpacking and weekend car camping. Locations and details will be posted on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BaltimoreOutdoorSierrans), announced within our monthly newsletter emails (sign up below) and through the Sierra Club's outing schedule.
The Baltimore Outdoor Sierrans will also periodically include humanitarian and environmental volunteer opportunities available in the Greater Baltimore Region. Past opportunities have included stream cleanups, food kitchen work and moveable feast fund raisers. Suggestions are always welcome.
Sierra Club membership is not required in order to participate in our events.
