Late Fall Colors on Beautiful Mattawoman Creek
Only 20 miles south of Washington DC, Mattawoman Creek is the last best remnant of what Chesapeake Bay rivers were like when the Bay teamed with life. Earlier trips saw geese nesting and protecting their eggs, lots of otters, and spawning fish so thick, they actually jumped out of the water. The river teems with life, including eagles, herons, beaver, bass and herring fish, American lotus flowers, and many other wonderful plants and animals. Yet it's listed as the 4th most endangered River on American River's list. Join us to enjoy the river's tranquil beauty and learn what you can do to help preserve this jewel of the Potomac and critical Chesapeake Bay fish hatchery! (rated easy to moderate)
